Baldur Etching Plate Nearly Done

The needling for the new etching, “Baldur”, is nearly done. Executed under a magnifying lens, much of the drawing is done with stipple or tightly controlled hatch marks. In etching, the plate having been covered with a very thin acid resistant ground can be scratched so densely that to the naked eye it does not appear that there is any ground left, and yet the texture is preserved. Using a #000 needle I will visit the plate in my studio every day searching with a magnifying lens each small area for anomalies and stuff that doesn’t make any sense. Errors can be blacked out with a fine Sharpie. In the next few days I will be submerging this in acid to etch the texture into the metal surface.
