I recently finished this new pastel.  I collect small objects and use them as subjects for still life paintings that are part of the Small World series.  Typically I will bring out pieces that I am interested in arranging and set them on a table next to me.  One day I turned around and saw that not only did they seem to be in conversation with one another but the table top had formed a kind of floating world surrounded by mysterious and only half-identifiable shapes.
